AGM 2009

The last NAFAE AGM and meeting held at the Swedenburg last March provided an occasion for wide ranging presentations and discussion between members on aspects of teaching and learning in different contexts and environments. Themes included, embedding the enterprise and employability agenda in hands on live art events and projects; bridging the gap between access to skills, training, knowledge and creative development through an expanded model of Fine Art teaching and research; Developing visual thinking blended learning short courses for school teachers.

Rod Bugg who retired as Principal of Wimbledon College of Art in 2006 gave an informal and insightful presentation on the development of Art School education and the importance of maintaining support for the practitioner teacher. We plan to continue to recognise and celebrate the achievements other long standing art school academics and teachers in future meetings. The steering would welcome suggestions and ideas for the next AGM and meeting.

Thanks to..

On behalf of members and associates of NAFAE I would like to offer sincere thanks to John Devane and Helen Baker who, as outgoing treasurer and secretary, have both been instrumental in developing NAFAE and making sure that the business of running the association has been efficient and effective over the past three years. Through their considerable experience as artists and academics John and Helen have made a really valuable commitment to NAFAE and I hope that they will continue to take part in future events.
I would also like to thank Tim Dunbar (Manchester Met) who has been an equally committed supporter and steering group member of NAFAE for many years. I am sure members will join me in wishing John, Helen and Tim all the very best for the future.

Mark Dunhill, Chair NAFAE
