Hosted by Nottingham Trent University, this year’s GLAD conference will build on and develop the themes and ideas published in the book, which resulted from the 2007 conference held in Cambridge, The Student Experience in Art and Design: Drivers for Change. GLAD will bring together practitioners at all levels in art and design who will engage in participatory workshop activities, with an emphasis on individual delegate participation.

Both within the gallery setting and beyond, artists are negotiating new ways to engage with the public. This symposium aims to examine certain practices and consider the changing possibilities and potential opportunities for the graduate artist. Discussion will be encouraged around the implications of this for curriculum design at BA level, particularly in relation to professional practice.

The Association is delighted to announce that it has teamed up with Paradox, Fine Art European Forum, to host a symposium that will follow the AGM on Thursday 13th in the afternoon. Paradox will be running some parallel focus group sessions on Friday 14th that you may be interested to attend.

NAFAE is aiming to broaden and expand the scope of its involvement in issues and agendas that are relevant to the future of Fine Art education. The steering group very much look forward to your participation and ideas about ways in which the website can function as effectively as possible, and more generally to respond to proposals and feedback about the future NAFAE events and activities.

A regional seminar on Widening Participation at the University of Salford, Irwell Valley Campus funded by NAFAE.

As Art and Design programmes in the city region of Salford and Manchester move towards a Regional Progression Network for learners this seminar seeks to debate the responsibilities and challenges that accompany widening participation beyond recruitment.
