NAFAE Steering Group: Promoting Fine Art Education
The Steering Group
NAFAE is led by a steering group of appointed staff and co-opted members that represent different areas of expertise within Fine Art Education. The steering group meets quarterly to review and plan events as well as to respond to key issues within NAFAE and the Art and Design sector. In the past these issues have included:
- commenting on and amending important aspects of the QAA bench marking exercise in Art and Design.
- commenting on Government legislation and policy proposals relating to the HE sector
- Increasing communication between Fine Art institutions.
- The European standardization of Fine Art courses.
Steering Group Members
The Steering group consists of:
- Elected Chairperson: Mark Dunhill, Dean of Art Central Saint Martins. Formerly Head of School of Fine Arts at UWE, Bristol.
- Secretary: Helen Baker, Principal Lecturer in Fine Art and Gallery Director , Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
- Treasurer: John Devane, Painter and Head of Department of Design and Visual Arts at Coventry School of Art and Design,Coventry University.
- Editor of JVAP: Chris Smith
Co-opted Members
The steering group has also invited the following members:
- Howard Riley, Howard Riley, Head of School of Research and Postgraduate Studies, Dynevor Centre for Arts, Design & Communication, Swansea Metropolitan University.
- Jane Ball, Lecturer in Fine Art, Coventry School of Art and Design, Coventry University.
- Mark Gaynor, Head of Scholl of Visual & Interactive Art, Southampton solent University.
